The Cat.8.1 connector has a greater insertion capacity; supports data transmission up to 40 Gbps on shielded twisted pair copper cables. This new RJ45 Cat.8.1 plug is compatible with all the previous categories of twisted pair copper cables (Cat.6A, Cat.6, Cat.5e). It supports a maximum channel length of 30m and a speed of 25 Gbps and 40 Gbps. It can support data rates of Cat.6A at 10 Gbps and lower with a 100m channel configuration.
